Presentation

One of the Frac’s key missions since its foundation has been to disseminate the works in its collection throughout the Île-de-France region. Designed in collaboration with multiple partners and with a particular focus on mediation, these outreach projects enable audiences to discover works in an uninhibited relationship with contemporary art. To support the mobility of its works in the Île-de-France region, the Frac has structured its activities around several programs that diversify the ways in which the collection can be enjoyed.

Flash collection

Flash collection is a unique project designed for high schools in the Paris region, based on a traveling exhibition module created by artist Olivier Vadrot containing a selection of small-format works. The Flash collection trunks and backpacks thus enable a more direct encounter with contemporary art by reinventing a new, more immediate, open, and sensitive way of accessing the works. With Flash collection, the Frac is traveling throughout the Paris region to meet high school students, particularly those who are furthest removed from cultural offerings.

With works by : Saâdane Afif, Robert Breer, Roxane Borujerdi, Julien Carreyn, Monster Chetwynd, Claude Closky, Christine Deknuydt, Jean-Pascal Flavien, Richard Fauguet, Mark Geffriaud, Lucien Hervé, Véronique Joumard, Jirí Kovanda, Bo Christian Larsson, Laurent Le Deunff, Cécile Le Talec, Bill Owens, Dominique Petitgand, Émilie Pitoiset, Aurélie Salavert, John Stezaker, Sergio Verastegui.

The project has been revamped with the invitation of artist Sébastien Rémy, who has devised a unique way of presenting the exhibition, Splash Collection, based on works by Robert Breer, Roxane Borujerdi, Jiří Kovanda, Véronique Joumard, and Claude Closky, which become the protagonists of a story inspired by the worlds of manga and comic books.

Through his roles as a storyteller, mediator, lecturer, and performer, the artist explores issues of knowledge transmission. He will invite students from various high schools to discover the works of Flash Collection through these new modalities.

Regional project

The regional project, launched in 2024, brings together works from the collection with pieces by guest artists each year, based on a theme interpreted by guest curators from across the Île-de-France region, depending on the context.

Like a spin-off or prequel to a series, whose pilot episode is a group exhibition in the first half of the year at the Frac’s exhibition venues at Le Plateau (Paris 19th arrondissement) and Les Réserves (Romainville), the off-site program multiplies the facets of this artistic project from different perspectives. This program brings together a variety of possible collaborations: group or monographic exhibitions, new productions, conferences, performances, screenings, events, as well as residencies, installations, and the organization of workshops, allowing the diversity of contemporary art to unfold.

Find here the call for participation in the 2026 regional program, Le Syndrome de Bonnard. The call for participation for the 2027 edition of the regional project will be published shortly.

Previous editions of the program :

  • In 2025, Berserk & Pyrrhia. Art contemporain et art médiéval
  • In 2024, Vieilles coques & jeunes récifs

Fracothèque

With a view to multiplying and de-hierarchizing approaches to art, the Frac Île-de-France will soon be offering a new art library service for individuals.

Based on art library modules from the Centre National des Arts Plastiques (CNAP), designed by Martial Maquet Studio, the Frac will set up shop in media library networks in Île-de-France, particularly in rural areas, to provide users with a selection of posters by French and international artists, which is one of the highlights of its collection.

The art library will circulate among several media libraries within the same partner network each year to ensure continuity, local roots, and broad accessibility. It combines the lending expertise of media librarians with their in-depth knowledge of their audiences and their territory to offer everyone a new way to enjoy works of art at home, in a lively and uninhibited approach to art.

If you are involved in public reading and would like to host the art library, please contact us.

If you are an individual and would like to borrow a work, contact details and loan terms will be available shortly.

Other partnerships

In addition to these programs, the collection continues to be displayed in a variety of partner venues in the Paris region, as well as throughout France and abroad, including heritage sites, community organizations, public spaces in partnership with local authorities, institutional venues not dedicated to the visual arts, and schools, where visitors can engage directly with the works, often with the active participation of the artists themselves.

All works in the collection are available for loan according to a procedure specified on the dedicated page.
