Using the structures of le plateau as a template, musician and artist Susan Stenger (Band of Susans, Big Bottom) will ‘score’ the space and the timeframe of gallery opening hours on 11/12 December to create a personal sonic geology.
Using four separate playback systems, she’ll remix her past, present and future by building up sound strata from a wide range of key influences, extracted elements from over 40 years of solo work and collaborations, as well as components of works-in-progress and works as yet only imagined.
This bedrock of fundamental elements will be punctuated by eruptions of live performance by Stenger and three of her closest colleagues–Robert Poss (Band of Susans, Rhys Chatham ensemble), FM Einheit (ex Einstürzende Neubauten) and actress, writer and theatre artist Olwen Fouéré–as they interact with her layers of memory, experience, inspiration and aspiration in a constantly shifting audio terrain.
