In conjunction with the exhibition ‘Alchemy Box’, presented at the Maison d’art Bernard Anthonioz in Nogent-sur-Marne, that showed a body of works from the collection selected by Christophe Gallois, a catalogue was published, outlining this project focused on the concept of ‘montage’ and the possible displacement in meaning of the work.

By taking an interest in procedures that fall within the scope of, for example, illogicality, displacement or random, Alchemy Box assumes that a montage method would circumvent conventional forms of narrative construction to explore other conditions for the emergence of meaning. Comprehended in the broadest sense, intersecting notably the domains of film, photography, collage and installation, the montage in question here is characterised by a certain vagueness, with no other ambition other than to let “the alchemy” between the elements assembled take hold, an alchemy of meaning.
