Repérages, a group film proposed by Valérie Jouve, 2013
Repérages, a group project initiated by Valérie Jouve, takes place at Place des Fêtes in Paris. In collaboration with a working group that is open to all, Valérie Jouve explored this area in the 19th district for two years, between 2007 and 2009, within the framework of the cultural programme of frac île-de-france, l’antenne. Valérie Jouve develops a unique work of photography and videography focusing on observing contemporary society. Western cities, and more recently those in the Arab world, with their architectural and demographic specific features, are ‘visual spaces’ for the artist. Her ‘characters’ that are painstakingly depicted represent urban reality. Her work has been exhibited worldwide since the middle of the 1990s.
