Opening of the Window Display Wednesday 05.02.20, from 7pm to 9pm
Every month, the “Window Display” at l’antenne is home to a new art project linked to le plateau’s exhibitions, collection and educational outreach ventures.
“My small bedroom is inhabited by a kind of perdition. Everything that falls onto the ground disappears: packets of cigarettes, socks, poems and clothes.”
Alejandra Pizarnik, Journaux 1959-1971
Karolina Krasouli (1984, Athens) lives and works in Paris and Athens. She studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. Through mediums such as paint, photography and film, she produces images that traverse a world fluctuating between abstraction and figuration, more of a persistence of vision than an immediate, distinct grasp of reality. Her pictorial and film work has a connection with literature and poetry, from which she extracts processes, and transcribes them without the support of language. She has exhibited her work at the 5th edition of Les Ateliers de Rennes, Incorporated! (2016), Galerie Raymond Hains, Saint-Brieuc (2016), La Tôlerie, Clermont-Ferrand (2016), Galerie Eva Meyer, Paris (2017), Frac Bretagne, Rennes (2018), Daily Lazy Projects, Athens (2018), Pauline Perplexe (2018), Kunstraum am Schauplatz, Vienna (2019).
The artist has created a new production inspired by objects related to the transmission of a message for the frac île-de-france Window Display. Sheets of paper, envelopes ans containers of words, in a simultaneously opaque and transparent stack, create spaces. In a play on the appearance of multiples and doubles the message is directed to both one person and everyone. The intention to deploy corresponds to the act of concealing. Showing what has been undone to the point where the message lies exactly at the centre of what escapes us.
