+ At 8pm: projection of images and live improvised concert by Frédéric D. Oberland (Nahal recordings)

To mark the publication of his first monograph, “Elegy for the Mundane” the Frac-Île-de-France has given carte blanche to photographer Gaël Bonnefon at La Vitrine Gallery.

Élégie

“Gaël Bonnefon’s photography conveys a sense of brutality and decay at first sight, yet suggests a gaze that is constantly seeking new boundaries, fearing its own annihilation. Photography is like love: the same web of distance and desire, tension and ease, difference and repetition, roaming and rest, flight and pursuit. Here, it is traversed by bursts of life, resurgences of vitality, echoes of distant sweetness and lost joy. It sings in silence, it’s a lover with a thousand faces, spinning the thread of a single image: an image tirelessly sought after, from the snowy heights of childhood to the lost worlds of the present day”

(Michaël Soyez).

Images from the book Elegy for the Mundane will be projected at the preview, with an improvised concert by Frédéric D. Oberland (Oiseaux-tempête, Le réveil des tropiques, Foudre…).
